My name is Amelia Robinson. I was born in Lexington, Kentucky, but have spent most of my life in the charming suburbs of Charlotte, North Carolina. I am nineteen-years-old, a college freshman (Go Wildcats!), and a great lover of story.
I've been creating stories in my head since before I was old enough to understand what I was doing. I wrote my first "novel" when I was twelve-years-old, home-schooled, and bored stiff. I was (and still am) a huge fan of Sarah Dessen, and one day I thought to myself: "I can do what she's doing." And shortly thereafter, I had a very vivid daydream about the first day of high school and being abandoned in the hallways by my best friend. What followed was a horrifying attempt at a well-meaning literary endeavor. I finished the draft of that story, but soon after, Twilight ransacked the sanity of tweens everywhere, and I was formally introduced to the paranormal romance genre. I wrote another book about a girl with the power to manipulate any form of energy. It, and the five books that were supposed to follow in that series, was the biggest project I'd ever attempted. After working on it for two years, I shelved it and moved on, but I think of it fondly as the beginning of the end.
I picked up and abandoned several more "big" projects in the years that followed. I am currently working on The Story. The one that has captured me and won't let go no matter how frustrated, discouraged, or overwhelmed I get. It is the story that made me win NaNoWriMo (2012) finally after two years of failure. This story is one that I have been working on for nearly two years now and maybe in the next few years, it will be the one that I throw at publishers.
I started Robinson Writes as a means to express myself about subjects pertaining to writing. I am an active blogger; I have maintained my young adult book review blog, The Authoress, for going on four years. Regardless of what form it takes, my passion is for story. I find enjoyment in reading it in books, and in creating it myself.
